Have you ever wondered if what you're feeling might be menopause? Whether it’s creeping in quietly or arriving with full force, menopause is a transition that every woman will face at some point in her life. It’s a natural part of ageing—but that doesn’t mean you have to go through it alone or untreated.

Menopause marks the end of a woman’s reproductive years, typically occurring between the ages of 45 and 55. The average age in Australia is around 51. While it’s a normal transition, the symptoms that come with menopause can significantly affect day-to-day life for many women.

Common symptoms include hot flushes, night sweats, mood changes, poor sleep, vaginal dryness, low libido, and trouble concentrating. For some, these symptoms are mild. For others, they can be persistent and debilitating.

No woman should feel that she just has to put up with it. Every woman deserves to feel her best—and support is available. There are effective treatments that can greatly improve your quality of life and help you feel more like yourself again.

These include hormonal therapies such as Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT), which can relieve symptoms like hot flushes and vaginal dryness. For women who cannot or prefer not to use hormones, there are non-hormonal options and practical lifestyle strategies that can also offer relief.

Your doctor can help you weigh up the pros and cons of each approach. While hormonal therapies can be very effective, they may have some long-term side effects, which your GP will take into account when helping you decide what’s right for you.

You don’t have to navigate menopause alone. If symptoms are affecting your wellbeing, book an appointment with your GP at Summers Family Practice. We’re here to help you feel comfortable, supported, and empowered to take control of your health.
