Regular health check-ups become even more important in maintaining quality of life and independence as we advance in years. A health assessment may sound like something you're already doing if you come to the doctors regularly, but it provides an invaluable opportunity. Our doctor and nurse work collaboratively in a prolonged unhurried manner to detect things that may be missed during a routine appointment.
The 75+ health assessment is a comprehensive review of your overall health, designed to detect issues such as osteoporosis and early cognitive changes. Addressing issues early helps ensure you continue to live well. Even if you completed a health assessment last year you may be due for your next one soon. Regular checks help ensure that new issues are found early, especially as many health conditions in older adults develop gradually, often without noticeable symptoms.
What Does a 75+ Health Assessment Involve?
The appointment consists of two parts:
1. Nurse Review:
45 minutes
A thorough assessment of your medical history, lifestyle, and daily activities.
Evaluation of mobility, bone density, balance, and fall risk.
Memory testing to detect any early signs of cognitive decline.
A review of medications, diet, and any support services you may need.
2. Doctor Review:
30 minutes
The doctor will go over the nurse’s findings and discuss any areas requiring follow-up.
Medication review and additional screenings may be conducted based on your individual health needs.
Advice and referrals to allied health services or specialists if necessary.
Why is it Important?
The 75+ Health Assessment allows for early intervention, improving long-term health outcomes and maintaining independence for as long as possible.
